Annie, Gabe, and Louie have arrived from Indiana, and it looks like a wonderful week awaits all of us.
On Sunday morning, Annie, Louie, and Gabe came to Riverbend Drive for breakfast, where Cia fixed an assortment of goodies, and we sat and laughed and ate at the dining room table. Then we walked down to the riverside and tossed rocks into the water. Louie learned a wind-up trick from Annie, and managed to toss rocks every which way, smiling all the time. I am proud to say that I was the best "rock-skipper", send a fairly flat stone out for over 10 skips!

That evening, we joined everyone at Amy and Jamie's for a terrific summer feast. Amy and Jamie seemed so proud and pleased that they could put on such a marvelous party for all of us, and well they should be. The food was bountiful and delicious, the scenery was perfectly peaceful, and the friendship was overflowing. Lucky us!

Then yesterday, Cia (with help from Aaron and a little help from me) put on a wonderful summer party for our family. Amy and Avis couldn't make it, but Catty and Lizzie did come, all the way from NYC for this special occasion. We gathered around 3:00, and spent most of the next three hours either sitting in a circle of chairs in the shade (adults) or racing back and forth between the hammock and Cia's tent. It was a perfect time for the adults to sit peacefully and talk about whatever, and it gave me a chance to talk with a few people (I couldn't get around to everyone) in a personal and meaningful way. I honestly can't recall spending a happier evening -- ever.

Look how Noah has changed!
