Cia has had some fine walks lately with friends. Here are some photos from her walks with Fredericka and Lee:

Lee, taking a break

On Sunday, we attended a wonderful poetry reading by Margaret Gibson, who read from her newest book, Broken Cup -- poems about her husband's dementia and her loving work as his caregiver. I surprised myself in two ways -- first by even going to the reading, because I was concerned that it might be a completely negative and disheartening event, and then by totally enjoying the poems! Far from being discouraging, I found the poems to have a secret sense of optimism and even joy in them, as if she and her husband had found some hidden happiness inside the sorrows of his illness. In the last few days, we have been reading some of the poems again, slowly, just trying to see the wisdom inside the words.
