This past Sunday, we drove up to Providence so that Cia could attend the Quaker Meeting there. I went along (always loving her company) and she dropped me at Providence Place Mall on the way to the meeting. I had a wonderful time sipping tea, writing now and then, reading a little, wandering around a bit, and generally just relaxing. We may do this trip now and then on Sundays.

On Monday, we met with our book discussion group for our first conversation about Gabriel Garcia Marquez's "100 Years of Solitude". The book is a real puzzler for Cia and me, but the discussion with the group sent shined some light on it for us. I'm going to try to read the book sort of like I might wander through a carnival, or like I would watch a magic show. It's not a novel to be analyzed, but just to be experienced in all its weirdness and expansiveness. Or perhaps I'll read it like I might climb a totally unknown mountain, getting lost a lot and feeling exhausted a lot, but every now and then coming to a "scenic lookout" which makes the reading worthwhile (I hope).

Also on Monday, Cia mowed our lawn for the first time (due to my still sore foot). The lawn looks so beautiful after her work that perhaps she'll decide to become the all-time Salsich mower. (Yes!)

Yesterday we had breakfast with Sandy, a dear friend, just catching up while enjoying superior blueberry muffins.
