Yesterday, Delycia spent the morning making our large front and back lawns almost totally leaf-free. It was a beautiful fall morning for outdoor work, and she took advantage of it, raking and hauling and mulching with the lawn mower and bagging and sweeping, almost from breakfast to lunch. And where was her husband, a guy who should be doing at least 50% of this autumn labor? Well, I was in the house, shut in with a fever and cough, and bored out of my mind because I wished I could share the work with my beloved Cia. But no, there I was, watching at the window as she raked and hauled and mulched with the mower. Oh well, I was not happy about all this, but, as the Buddha would advise, I did my best to be at peace with it.
Today I had my cataract surgery on my right eye, and everything went very well, as it did when I had surgery on my left eye several weeks ago. Cia, as usual, was my driver, my nurse, and my partner and friend as the morning hours passed, and now we are home together enjoying a dark, rainy, and cozy fall day.
