This evening we're sitting by the cozy fire, reading and writing and listening to the humidifier sigh and bubble. It's been another quiet day of recovery for me, thanks to nonstop devoted caregiving by Cia. She has been everywhere and done everything to make my day easier. She's lifted things that needed to be lifted (usually my job), including logs into the fire. She made the bed this morning (my job), washed all the dishes (my job this week), and even changed the water filter (my all-time job and one only a strong guy can do -- or so I thought). Now, she's finally resting here by the fire with me, typing and sipping her tea. We have a loving life together, and the patient-caregiver relationships we've assumed for each other in the past two months have brought us only closer.
