Today we spent a happy hour up in Brooklyn with Jamie's family, sort of as a brief, private celebration of Noah's 13th birthday. We will be in England when the big family celebrates with him, so we were happy to have this chance to give him a gift and some hugs and good wishes. We gave him the proof copy of my newly published little book of spiritual thoughts. It occurred to me, a few weeks ago, that he was exactly the kind of young adult who might appreciate the thoughts I share in the book, and Cia encouraged me to give it to him. Our visit this morning enabled me to say a few words to Noah and the group about my book, and about why we thought he might enjoy it. I enjoyed the brief visit, to be honest, more than I sometimes enjoy the large family gatherings, simply because we had time to share our love in a quiet way with Noah and his immediate family.
