A POEM FOR TODAY

WATCHING

He decided to simply watch, so he sat
in the sunroom and watched his thoughts
as they thumped and floated around
inside him. He had a heart and lungs
and blood that brought beautiful chances
for happiness to him, but he knew
his thoughts held the highest power,
were actually wonder-workers
in his life.  He mostly wondered
where they came from, so he watched
and saw them soaring and drifting in
from  everywhere, even far-off
mountains, it seemed. He watched,
and went off in his mind
with a few thoughts,  thinking
how lucky he was to have thoughts
to both watch and fly with.
