It's a cloudy, cool day, and I'm observing it just from the couch in the living room, since I'm laid up with a virus of some sort. I'm doing my spiritual reading and meditating to help the healing process (along with some occasional Tylenol), and I'm very fortunate to have the loving services of my live-in caregiver, Delycia. So . . . it will be a quiet few days for me as the healing proceeds.

On Sunday, I spent three priceless hours with Luke, Jamie, and Matt -- just sitting in the living room and around the table, talking openly about our lives. We are good friends, my sons and I, and over the years we have spent a lot of time together, but rarely have we gathered by ourselves, just dad and his sons, and rarely for such a long time. Usually our get-togethers have involved other family members, so any conversation among the guys and me was fairly brief. On Sunday, though, we came together for three special, focused hours, like good buddies who love each other and  need each other's wisdom and advice. For me, it was a totally uplifting and inspiring experience, and hopefully there will be many more such gatherings.
