A cool and glorious Sunday for us travelers. We started with a traditional English breakfast in the dining room at the Penn Club, where we are staying. Then we walked over to the Bloomsbury area, where we attended the meeting for worship at the Friends House, the local Quaker organization. For both of us, I think, it was an inspiring meeting, just allowing the silence to do the Spirit's work in us. I seemed to get more inspiration than I usually get from Sunday worship. Perhaps it was just the excitement of being in England, where the Quakers got their start, or perhaps I was just unusually open to the words of God. I sat still and listened and heard what I needed to hear. Next, we took a self-guided walking tour of the Bloomsbury area, famous for being the home of many famous writers and artist for many years. With Cia's expert help, we found our way to various literary stops, and occasionally sat on a bench in one of the many parks, or "squares", and just reflected on the famous authors whom we were tracking. We finished the day down at Waterloo Station to check out the tickets for our trip coming up on Tuesday, to Winchester Cathedral, where Jane Austen is enshrined.
Now, at 8:50 p.m., we're sitting in our cozy room at The Penn, planning our day tomorrow, and just feeling fortunate.
