Yesterday we drove with friends down to a lovely seacoast cafe for lunch and good conversation. The view was a pretty one, a quiet inlet on the sea with small cottages and a few boats here and there, and the conversation was cordial and happy, but the food was less tasty than we had hoped for.

This morning, warm and overcast, we walked along the Mystic River, extra early this time, and it was fun to see the boats and houses in the grayness with the sun struggling to shine through the clouds. We noticed a couple of scullers rowing along dim morning light, so smoothly and almost stylishly.
