We returned from Charleston on Sunday after a whirling, wonderful, orderly, chaotic, invigorating, and wearying weekend. We were both fairly drained when we reached 44 Riverbend Drive -- good to be home, and good to quietly savor the memories of one of the most spic-and-span and happiest weddings I have attended.

Since then, we have lived our usual
busy but still restful life (restful compared to un-retired folks). Cia
was still sick with stomach discomforts on Monday and Tuesday, so I went up by myself to see the grandkids in Brooklyn
on Tuesday. I brought two big pizzas and spent an hour or so with Jamie and Amy
and the kids, trying not to be in the way on their typically busy night of
homework and dinner. I drove home a little more speedily than usual to see how
my Cia was doing -- and happily found her feeling a little brighter and
livelier.

Yesterday, we drove down to New Haven for the new Yale Rep play, to which, to be perfectly honest, I would give a solid F. I usually love the plays we see there, but this one was too filled with shouting and screaming and swear words and implausible plots and melodramatic nonsense. I was very disappointed. Surely there are better playwrights and plays waiting to be found by Yale Rep.
Today Cia is out and about with some errands, and I am chilling here at home, feet up, laptop on the lap, typing to my heart's content, quietly loving my life, but a little lonely and looking forward to my loved one's return.
