Today was a lazy day of lazy, happy reading. For a good part of the day, I was nestled on the couch in the living room, reading Great Expectations and some books on the spiritual life, while Cia was wrapped in a quilt on the bed, reading a Dickens biography. Every so often I visited her just to say hi and get a quick kiss, and then I was back to my reading and she to hers. This has to be one of the finest rewards of retirement!

This evening we enjoyed another spirited discussion in our reading group. We had a full room of fine readers, and so much of what was said opened new doors for me to a book I have read many times. I felt fortunate to be part of the discussion.

A poem for today . . .
