A LONELY WALK
I took a silent walk
today. I couldn't talk
to anyone, because my honey
wasn't with me. No amount of money
could have made me happy
without her, but I was still snappy
in my walking on the lovely road
by the river. I carried a load
of joys with me as I saw
the gulls swooping. It's a law
that the Mystic River is always
beautiful, on gray days
or sunny ones. I walked
with spirit, and talked
with my dear one, who
was with me even though
she was back home,
knowing, I hope, she wasn't alone.
Below, a big tree trunk and a big rock, along the river . . .
