Yesterday, Cia took a hike at Bigelow Hollow, in northern CT and southern MA, with her friends Evelyn,  Lee, and Diane. They hiked 8 miles, including 1,130 ft vertical, in warm, lovely weather (77 degrees when they finished), through varying woodlands, some conifers, some deciduous, with a profusion of laurel. They saw the Peter Rabbit carving in stone again (sort of a famous trail marker for hikers), and of course, they had lots of good conversation along the way.

Meanwhile, at home, I sent off a query for my novel, "Smashing the Lion", read a few chapters in "Can You Forgive Her" by Anthony Trollope, and took a relaxing walk up to McQuades and back, On the return trip, I took a brave shortcut through the condos in back of us, climbing over the construction fence and across the construction site and over our stone wall into our backyard.
