Dinner in Wilcox Park tonight -- some leftover spareribs, beans, and tomatoes. Such a lovely park, and such a lucky couple!

My Poem for Today

FLOATING AFTER 80
(Sharon Z., 82, Blessings, CT)

She knew that after 80 years her life
had lifted up and floated free and strong,
but she did not discuss this, did not say
how brave and beautiful she felt, how full
of liberty that cannot end. She knew
that sometimes silence is the proper road
to follow, so she sailed through the days
like life had wings, but always stillness was
beside her, and serenity, and peace
you understood but couldn’t see or hear
when she was near. You simply knew
her senior days were light and able to ascend
so she could see the vastness of this life
in her quiet and peaceful older way.
