We sat side by side this morning (as always) at the Quaker meeting for worship in Westerly, and it was an inspiring hour for both of us, I think. More and more, I am feeling close to this group of people who sit silently for one hour each Sunday morning, and then chat in the pleasantest way afterwards. A friend loaned me a book that is an introduction to Quakerism for "seekers", and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it this afternoon, bringing me even closer to feeling like a true "Friend", as the Quakers would write it.

After dinner tonight, we drove over to Noank and spent some quality minutes in our chairs looking out at Long Island Sound in the lovely fading evening light. We brought books to read, but the setting was too pretty for that, so we spent the time looking (sometimes with our binoculars) and admiring.
