This morning Cia attended David's writing class again (we haven't been in several months) and wrote on the topic of "expectations". She seemed to enjoy it, and I look forward to going with her to the class each Friday for the foreseeable future. Should be fun!

Later, we did some quick shopping for flowers (no luck) and then went to the Y in Mystic for a fast workout. I set the treadmill at a high incline and a 3.4 pace and did some sweaty, tiring work for 30 minutes, followed by a super shower (with much higher water pressure than at home).

Here is my poem for today:

WONDERS
(an old guy thinking)

He wonders how September’s made, and how
a hummingbird can move its wings so fast,
and how the distant interstate just now
makes music with its cars, and how the vast

and baffling world he lives in comes to be
each moment, like it’s born again right here
and now.  He wonders how an endless sea
of thoughts flows through him, how a clear

and  thrilling land of possibilities
awaits him every day. He sometimes sits
and ponders this amazing world, and sees
a wondrous mystery, and knows that it’s

a gift to him and everyone. He smiles.

His wonder stretches out for miles and miles.
