Yesterday I attended our bi-weekly discussion group about classic books (Cia was attending a meeting of the League of Women Voters), and I enjoyed the group's comments about Fielding's The Adventures of Tom Jones I am thoroughly enjoying the book, which surprises me, because it has not been high on my list of "must reads". I find it to be, so far, a light-hearted, uplifting, and -- in many ways -- inspiring novel. I didn't say much last night, probably because I just wanted to listen and learn -- which I did. This is a wise and helpful group to read great books with.
More silver sneakers this morning -- and not fun at all. I started looking at the clock way too soon -- like after 15 minutes. Again, though, I was inspired by the other "athletes" in the class -- some bent over, some limping, some obviously in their 80's, and all looking to have some fun in their so-called "old age". Like the ancient sequoias in California, these folks are amazingly strong in a quiet, inner way.
