(an alphabet poem)
All
together, the wind moves and the
bright
sun inside her life shines and
colorful,
quiet thoughts flow through her like a
dazzling
stream. Her friends say that
everything
works together for her because she
follows
and loves life, and generously
gives
to life rather than demands to
have
everything given to her.
In her openhearted
way, perhaps she’s found that all of life is
just
the gracious universe
keeping
itself and everything harmonious,
like all
of nature, including us, dancing all together,
meeting
and greeting and mixing,
never
knowing how together we actually are.

Today was our final full day in London, and we ended our stay on a quiet but fulfilling note. We ate a casual breakfast in the dining room of the Penn Club, as usual, and then, as usual, spent some quite time in our rooms, reading and meditating. Then came the packing for the trip to the airport hotel, and when that was finished, we started out on a final walk. It was Cia's day, and she wanted to walk down near Covent Garden to visit her special map store. (She truly is a lover of maps.) While she was in the store, I had an enjoyable time doing some fascinating people-watching, sometimes walking around the neighborhood, but often just standing and noticing.
When Cia was finished at the store, we walked back to Russell Square, where we had a delicious lunch on the patio of a small cafe in the park. Cia had a British favorite, a jacket potato with chile, and I had a tasty, crispy chicken sandwich. For me, this final lunch of the trip might have been the best, especially because we were sitting in this lovely square, surrounded by Dickens's plane trees with golden leaves falling everywhere.
We checked out of the hotel at 3:00, jumped in a cab for the ride to Paddington Station. I was entertained for the entire brief ride by Cia's friendly and lively conversation with the driver. I stayed silent, just enjoying the spirit and goodwill of my dear wife.
Now we're ready for a good night's rest at The Thistle Hotel, close to the airport. Our flight is at 11:15 tomorrow, and looking forward to lovely, quiet Riverbed Drive.
