We spent some of the morning re-reading -- studying, actually -- King Lear, and then took a bus ride down to the Embankment, walked across the Millennium Bridge to the Tate Modern museum, where we spent an hour among some typically fantastic (literally fantasy-like) exhibits. When we first went in, we found ourselves in a huge space where some artists had erected enormous swing sets fitted for three people per swing. Groups of children were laughing and screaming and swinging, and we went right in and found a swing and joined in the fun (see below).
We then wandered through some other equally fanciful exhibits, just getting a brief taste of the work of some very liberated artists.
But, the big adventure of the day was a performance of King Lear at the famous Globe Theater. Cia had purchased some excellent seats for us, and the performance was spectacular -- one of the best Shakespeare productions I've ever seen. (I probably said that the last time we came to The Globe.) I won't ever forget the power of the acting, and of Shakespeare's words.
Now, we're back at the hotel, just chilling and looking forward to a wonderful day in Paris tomorrow.
