Today I went to the gym early, around 6:00, and left lovely Cia snuggled in our warm bed. (She was getting some needed extra rest after a 4-hour 8-mile hike yesterday with friends. It was a great hike, she said, and she was able to have wonderful conversations with her good friend along the way -- but she was fairly exhausted when she got home.) My workout at the Y was excellent, full of healthy huffing and puffing and sweating, and I was happy to drive home under early sunny skies to enjoy a hearty breakfast with my beloved.

Later in the morning, we attended a writers' group at a local senior center, led by a friend, and we both enjoyed it very much. Our friend simply gave a brief prompt for the writing, and then we all wrote for about 20 minutes. Everyone except me wrote by hand in notebooks, and I couldn't help but notice the beautiful cursive handwriting. Some of the folks had filled large notebooks with writing, most of it done, probably,  on Fridays in this writers' group. I wrote a brief paragraph on the topic, which was the word "enjoy", and then managed to write a short, childlike rhyming poem. I was very pleased with both pieces, and was happy to read them to the group as we took turns. Cia read her piece, as well, and we both enjoyed hearing the other writers share their words. I think we will be going again!
