Yesterday we spent the afternoon and evening up at Jamie and Amy's with their family, and we had a wonderful time. We were both so impressed with their family -- their togetherness, the love they showed to each other and to us, and especially the kindness and graciousness of the children. I can't recall being with kids who were more polite and loving than Noah, Ava, and Avis were yesterday. We both felt pampered and well-cared for throughout our time there. Cia fixed a wonderful dinner for everyone, and in between getting the food ready and eating, we both managed to get in some high-quality time with everyone. Noah and I sat quietly together and talked about school and sports and how tall he was getting, Cia and I both had a great conversation with Ava, and Cia spent many minutes chatting with Amy and Jamie on the couch. Driving home, I think we both felt like very fortunate grandparents.
