Today we drove down to New Haven to see a new play at Yale Rep, called "Imogen Says Nothing". It was -- as so many of their plays are -- a strange, sometimes shockingly confusing play, and I must confess to being somewhat lost at various points. However, I am very happy I saw it, because it dealt with important issues, mainly the dignity of womanhood and the bigotry (and sometimes shear stupidity) of men. We discussed the play on the drive home, which helped me put it into clearer focus, and I'm determined, for our next play in a month or so, to do more advance reading about the play. I need to be much better prepared if I'm going to benefit from seeing these profoundly unusual and complex plays.

The cast . . .

and, below,  three paintings at the Yale Museum of Art,
the first two by Pierre Bonnard,
but I can't recall the artist in the bottom one
