We took excellent rides the last two mornings, short but (for us) fast trips in the cool morning winds and sunshine. There's something almost miraculous about sailing along country roads with a fair amount of ease and a definite feeling of freedom. Almost as soon as we start out on a ride, I think both of us feel somehow set free, ready to simply be happy for the next 30-60 minutes. We are so fortunate that, now in our mid-70's, we can still ride bikes almost like kids.

Yesterday, we met Jamie and Noah and Ava in Storrs for a puppet show performed by a student at UConn in their puppetry department. It wasn't as good a show as we have seen in the past, but the kids, I think, enjoyed it, and were very interested in how the puppeteer made things move behind stage in such magical ways. It was good that they were able to talk to her after the show, when she was able to show and explain some of her tools and procedures. After the show, we went down the street to an excellent burger cafe and enjoyed great conversations and delicious burgers.

Peter and Evelyn came for lunch today, a delicious but simple meal prepared by Chef Cia and appreciated by all of us. We then went to the Granite Theater in Westerly and enjoyed a totally lighthearted and well-performed play. These are not the finest actors in the world, but they are serious professionals in their craft, and I thought they did a marvelous job of presenting the surprising and happy script to the audience. I would definitely like to see some more Granite Theater productions.
